Ruth 1 - This is a summary of our study.
God has a plan for everyone. As children of God our steps are ordered.
Anywhere we find ourselves, we should trust God for a better future. Don’t lose hope. Naomi was a part of God’s plan but did not know it. She thought she lost everything but she gained more.
Naomi presented God to both Ruth and Orpah. For 10 years they lived with Naomi and heard about her God and her tradition Deuteronomy 25:5-10. They also studied her reaction to the death of her husband and sons. Naomi did not decide to curse God and die. She saw God as the Almighty who does not owe man anything but could do whatever He wanted because He is all-powerful. Ruth 1:20-21. Yes God is all-powerful but He loves us.
Ruth loved her mother-in-law and decided to follow her. It shows that Naomi was a lovable person. Naomi gave them an opportunity to separate themselves from her but both women clung on to Naomi initially. At last only Ruth decided to persist.
Ruth caught the fire and decided to follow Naomi’s God. She agreed to worship the same God as Naomi. A God who allowed all those deaths and calamities to befall Naomi. This only shows that Naomi referenced and loved God even in times of trouble. The love Naomi had for God was obvious to Ruth. Sometimes in life we get so tired and we feel like going back to our old life or we feel like giving up. We have to be patient and trust the God we have come to know because He will show up in time. There is a masterplan. There is light at the end of the tunnel.
Using famine, God separated Abraham and Lot in Genesis 13:1-12. Again with famine, (Ruth 1:1) God brought Ruth, a descendant of Lot back to Israel. It was a plan. A plan for the Gentiles. Abraham represents Israel, while Lot/Moabites represents Non-Israel. Jesus was a descendant of a mixed breed. A breed of Israelites(Jews) and Non-Isrealites(Gentiles). In John 1:12, He opened up His arm to everyone who believes Him both Jews and Gentiles. Neither Naomi nor Ruth could see it at that time but they were part of God’s glorious master plan.
