Summary of today’s meeting:

In our study today, Naomi represents God, Boaz represents Jesus and Ruth, the church (you and I).

Like Naomi instructed Ruth on how to present herself to Boaz, God orders our steps and presents us nicely to meet with Jesus.

John 6:44

“No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws them, and I will raise them up at the last day.”

Ruth must have been heartbroken by the death of her husband, but Naomi said wash up, put on perfume and get dressed in your best clothes Ruth 3:3.

In the same way, God is telling ladies who have been heartbroken to get up, wash up, dress beautiful and put yourself out there.

Now God came to Ruth in form of Naomi. This shows that ladies need a discipler/mentor to guide them and instruct them on who to marry and how to go about the journey.

Ask God for a discipler today - someone who knows God’s word more than you do. Naomi knew the law about guardian-redeemer Ruth 3:9. A discipler should call you daughter and love you like one, just as Naomi did, even when you are not her biological daughter.

Naomi wanted a good home for Ruth where she would be provided for (not where she would be the one providing). Naomi wanted rest for Ruth. This is the kind of marriage God desires for us in the physical sense.

In the spiritual sense, God desires us to be married to Jesus at the end of the day and enter into our heavenly home where we’ll be provided for forever.

Jesus is the one to spread the corner of His garment over us. Ruth 3:9 Ezekiel 16:8.

We should cleanse ourselves from sin and put on Jesus’ perfume to smell good to God 2Corinthians 2:15.

6 Measures of Barley

Boaz gave Ruth 6 measures of barley for herself and her mother-in-law. This shows that a good HUSBAND would be willing to provide for you and your loved ones to the best of their abilities.

In the spiritual sense, Ruth waited to receive the ultimate goal - marriage. We should not just run off with the 6 measures of barley or the blessings we receive from Jesus but continue in Him, maintaining a relationship and quiet time with Him until we get married to Him.

Please keep studying God’s word and praying accordingly.

God bless us all.
